The middle school students spent this week reading about, researching, and watching the movie called The 13th Day, to help them better understand the importance of October 13 2017 - the Centennial of Fatima. Lucia, Francisco and Jacinta were three children, around the same age as our middle school students, when they were visited by an angel three times and then by the Blessed Virgin Mary six times. They devoted their lives to saying the Rosary for peace and for the conversion of sinners. The students work from this week will be the bulletin board display in the hallway outside the 8th grade room.

The school community came together at 9:30 Friday morning to pray the Rosary together just as the three shepherd children had done 100 years ago. Each student in school colored a beautiful flower that will be used to decorate the Fatima Centennial bulletin board.

All religion classes will be back on track with normal lessons. Grade 6 students are also reading and working on the Venture Magazine and grade 7 and 8 students are reading and working on the Vision Magazine. Both magazines introduce the students to Sunday's Gospel and help explain what it means. There is also a story to read and various activities for the students to do. The magazine is handed out on Friday and due the following Friday.

Grade 8: Pre-algebra  students are reviewing for the chapter test which will be Tuesday (October 17th).

Grade 8 Science: Class is learning how to balance chemical equations. Students were introduced to the lesson on Friday and will continue learning how to balance chemical equations on Monday.

Grade 7 Science: Students are learning about how a bird (or airplane) flies. They will be designing their own paper airplane to complete against their classmates this week.

Grade 6 Science: The class took a quiz on Friday on Technology (section 3) and Safety in the Science Lab (section 4). They will get the quiz back on Monday to make corrections to raise their grade. The class will review for the Chapter Test which will be this week. It is an OPEN BOOK TEST.

Bake Sale October 27th and the first school dance for the middle school students will be help Friday evening, October 27th.

Today, the 8th graders shared a wonderful gift from God -  their beautiful singing voice. The school community gathered in Church at 2:00 to pray the Chaplet of Divine Mercy. As the CD played the music, the 8th graders lead the younger students in the songs. All was going along very well until the CD player decided it didn't want to play the CD anymore. That's when the true beauty of our 8th graders stood out as they continued to sing the songs of the Chaplet of Divine Mercy acappella. Thank you to Isabella, Faith, Elizabeth, Brian, Christina, Jackie, and Emma for sharing your special gift with us today. I am so proud of you.

Great day at Foster Family Farm today. The weather was beautiful, the students had a great time, and teachers and chaperones got in a few steps, and the maze was amazing.

The last day to bring in diapers or wipes is Thursday, October 5th. The truck will be coming by the school sometime Thursday to pick up all the donations. Thank you so much for your generosity and outpouring of support for this project. I will try to get a picture tomorrow or first thing Thursday morning before the LARGE pile of diapers and wipes is picked up.
