RELIGION:

Grade 6 - Started Chapter 5 today which will review and go over the Second Commandment.

Grade 7 - Students brought home work in their folder for Chapter 5 today. Please look the work over with your child, sign the assignment sheet and send the assignment sheet and folder back to school with your child. Remind them, they have to sign the assignment sheet also. The class will start Chapter 6 Tuesday, February 12th.

Grade 8 - Some of the Grade 8 students will redo the Chapter 4 Test as an open book test this week. The option to redo the test will be left up to each individual student.

ALL CLASSES HAD A ASSIGNMENT GIVEN TO THEM THE END OF JANUARY TO WRITE AN ESSAY, POEM, OR DO A DRAWING CELEBRATING MARY, THE MOTHER OF GOD. STUDENTS WERE GIVEN THE INSTRUCTIONS AND GUIDELINES AT THIS TIME. EACH STUDENT MUST SUBMIT THEIR WORK AND THE CONSENT FORM SIGNED BY A PARENT. THIS IS A CONTEST FOR ALL STUDENTS FROM EVERY NATION. TRY PRAYER! IT WORKS! WAS THE MAIN IDEA AND THE THEME FOR THIS YEAR IS MARY, MOTHER OF THE CHURCH.

SCIENCE

Grade 6 Science - the class has finished working on the class Science Fair Project - Viscosity to the SYRUP. Each student should now be focusing on their individual report. I am available for extra help or to answer any questions in school or text/email. Students are now doing the chapter review questions to get ready for the chapter test, which will be an open-book test later this week.

Grade 7 Science - students started Chapter 4 today on Birds. They were given the 14 new vocabulary words that will be introduced in this chapter. Today they observed and wrote down characteristics of a bird's feather.

GRADE 7 - CHAPTER 1 WORK WENT HOME IN THE BLUE FOLDER TODAY ALONG WITH RELIGION CHAPTER 5 WORK. IF YOUR CHILD DOES NOT GIVE IT TO YOU, PLEASE ASK TO SEE THE WORK.

Grade 8 Science -  students are working on the chapter review and Test Prep pages to get ready for the chapter test later this week. Students will use some of the time during class to record their grades for their various assignments.

Choices - February: all grades read the articles on School Dress Codes, and Bake Sale Gone Wild. The classes were given three worksheets that review vocabulary words from the stories and check their comprehension of the articles. These are due on Friday, Feb 15th. The classes will be reading the remaining stores this week and may have another assignment or two to check their understanding of the new vocabulary words and comprehension of the story.

MATH:

The Pre-algebra class is in the process of taking the chapter test this week. After spending time with rational numbers, the students will journey into the land of geometry.

Please continue to check your child's progress through the school website. Students who owe me work in religion or science are working on missing assignments during recess. I am trying to avoid the mad rush at the end of the trimester to finish missing work and let the student know they will be held accountable for their missing assignments. Students who are absent due to illness, or other valid reasons will have an opportunity to complete their assignments before they miss their recess period. GRADES CLOSE FOR THE SECOND TRIMESTER ON MARCH 7TH.

Enjoy your evening,
