Mass February 24. 2020  Sorry, I left the list at school of the students who read for this Mass. I will post it the next time I update the site.

I will continue to update grades on line every couple of days. Please take a few minutes to check your child's (children's) progress. It would be beneficial for your child/children to know how to go on line a check their grades and any missing work especially since all the grades now have either a Chrome Book or tablet.

GRADES CLOSE FOR THE SECOND TRIMESTER MARCH 11, 2020

SCIENCE:

Grade 8 - the class has completed the chapter on Magnetism and will be heading to the next chapter this week. A couple students still need to hand in assignments from this chapter.

Grade 7 - the class is working on Section 4 - Noninfectious Disease. The class has read and discussed the section in class and will work on the worksheets on Monday. There are a couple students missing work for this chapter. Grades close March 11th, please make sure your child has all their work in.

Grade 6 - The class took the Chapter 7 Test last week. They will be doing corrections on the sections that they did not use their text book (Part I, II and part of III). Our next adventure will take us into space as the class starts Chapter 21 - Stars, Galaxies, and the Universe later this week.

THE SCIENCE FAIR WILL BE MONDAY EVENING, MARCH 30, 2020.

SCIENCE FAIR PROJECTS  - All grades have been given the chance to pick a project and get it approved by me before bringing the approval form home for parent/guardian signature. There are a few students who have yet to complete this part of the project.

All grades have also been given the requirements for the Science Fair Project.

I will be checking in on the students over the next week to hear about their project and how it is, or is not progressing. Students should be writing everything they do for their project in their science journal. This journal is a separate from the notebook they use in science class. When I asked this past week, some students hadn't even started their project. This is not the type of report that can be done the night before it is due. The more a student puts into their project, the more they will learn from it and be able to explain to our guests.

RELIGION

Grade 8 - The class is reading and learning about The Teaching Church. The first lesson was about revelation. I read them an essay about why I became a Catholic School teacher while they listen and took notes the second time through.  As I revealed highlights about my road to becoming a teacher, they wrote down what they thought was interesting or important. The majority of students wrote down the same information. Next they will be studying the various ecumenical councils and what each one was formed for as well as some of the Fathers and Doctors of the Church

Grade 7 - students are now reading and studying the remarkable story of Moses. They have just read and watched a video about the ten plagues. They are now reading and learning about the covenant God made with Moses at Mount Sinai.

Grade 6 - The class is really getting into Chapter 6 - The Lord's Day. They are presently learning about the Liturgical Calendar and the important events that we celebrate throughout the year.

.

SOCIAL STUDIES

Grade 6 - the class took the Unit 2 Test last week. They will use some of the class time on Monday correcting parts of the text. The class will start Unit 3, The Arab World later this week.

School Happenings:

The next Bake Sale and Raffle is scheduled for Friday, March 27th. Thank you for all your support!

Drama Club - Mrs. Potvin will send an email to the cast members who will need to be at the rehearsal on Tuesday.

Bowling Club just finished week 8. The results of each week as well as overall for all the weeks is posted in each individual classroom. There is no school on Friday, March 6th due to Catholic Teachers Educators Faith Conference.

There will still be bowling on March 6th.

GRADE 8 PARENTS  - Start looking for that special baby picture of your graduate. Oh and you have! Some of the pictures coming in are so darn cute! Students interested in helping with the yearbook should let Mrs. Potvin know. We will start meeting in March once Bowling Club is done. I will need an email address I can send a link to so yearbook members can access the yearbook.  I could also use some pictures from days gone by for the yearbook, especially anything before 6th grade. You can either send in the picture(s) for me to scan or email them to me (mmlorry@cox.net). If you have an iphone, you might be able to airdrop the pictures if we can meet before or after school.
